Mr Mike Dane - Treasurer 22 Squadron Association

Mike Dane I joined the RAF as direct entry aircrew in 1953. Trained as an Air Signaller (Swanton Morley) and as an Air Gunner (Leconfield) before joining Coastal Command (St Eval 1955). Posted Flying Training Command (Shawbury 1958) and in 1961 became SAR Winchman (Manston) until 1966 with a short break at Khormaksar SAR Flight. In 1966 became SAR instructor at CFS(H)Det (Valley) and posted in 1968 to 1563 Flt/84 Sqn (Akrotiri) until Jun 1972. Returned to 202 Sqn (Coltishall) until world collapsed around me (1973) when I was posted to Victor Tankers at Marham I Escaped in 1980 and returned to SAR, posted to SARTU (Valley) until 1984. Posted to Air Ops/RCC Cyprus (AHQ Episkopi) until 1987 and then RCC Plymouth (Mountbatton) until 1989. Spot of good fortune as posted back to Air Ops/RCC Cyprus (now HQBFC Episkopi) until 1993 when I retired from full time RAF service. Second spot of good fortune as the day after I became part of the RAF Reserve, as an RO, and continued to work in Air Ops/RCC Cyprus until Feb 2000 when I finally retired and returned to UK.

As Treasurer I will receive subscriptions and all other monies and pay them into the 22 Squadron Association account, which is lodged with the Halifax Bank. I will produce a statement of account at the AGM or EGM or at any time as directed by the Chairman of the Association. I will pay out such monies as may be directed by the Chairman or as agreed by a majority vote of members at an AGM or EGM of the Association. In the absence of the Treasurer funds may be administered by the Chairman or Secretary of the Association. If you have any queries please feel free to contact me.
