Shawbury Nursery

The nursery, based at Shawbury Primary School, offers part-time places to children for three terms prior starting either of the village schools. Sessions run from 0855-1125 hrs and 1220-1450 hrs. Further details can be obtained from the secretary on (01939) 250323.

The nursery also holds a family session on Friday afternoons between 1315 and 1445 hrs during term time. Any parents with pre-school children are welcome to go along to the session and make use of the nursery facilities. Parents are responsible for their own children during these sessions.

Primary Schools

There are two primary schools in the village. The Head Teachers would be pleased to show you around their schools and/or send you a prospectus. Details also available from The HIVE.

St Mary's Church of England Primary School is opposite the Station main entrance but accessed via Dawson's Rough (follow the signposts to St Mary's). The Head Teacher is Dr Huw Humphries, telephone (01939) 250487.

Secondary School

Shawbury is in the catchment area of Thomas Adams School, Wem. Transport is provided by the LEA and buses collect at various places in the village. The school also has a sixth form college and boarding house. The Headteacher is Mr Neil Hemmings, telephone (01939) 232328.

Local Colleges

Local colleges in both Shrewsbury and Telford offer a wide range of academic subjects as well as many vocational courses. Adult education courses are also run in the local area. Prospectuses are available from the Station Learning Centre Ext 7586.


Station Library

The library is located in Bldg 47 and is open Monday to Friday from 0800-1300. It is free to join and there are no library fines or limit on the number of books taken out. There are several information videos. Frequent additions to the best sellers are made and any book suggestions are appreciated. The librarian is on Ext 7420.
