Reconnaissance
What is Reconnaissance?
Reconnaissance is the art of gaining specific information about the activities and resources of an enemy or potential enemy. It generally has a time constraint due to the endurance of the reconnaissance aircraft. It is important that the information gained by the reconnaissance aircraft is transmitted in near real time to those who require it.
Armed Reconnaissance missions are flown with the primary purpose of locating and attacking targets of opportunity, not for attacking specifically briefed targets.
Recce Attack Interface is a procedure for attack aircraft to be passed up-to-date target information from reconnaissance aircraft, while airborne, immediately prior to attacking the target.
Aircrew must be able to locate and identify targets on the ground.
