Director Sports Board (RAF) - Air Commodore Barry Doggett
The Director of the Sports Board, DSB(RAF), Air Commodore Barry Doggett, has had a broad Service career involving operational, staff and command appointments with the RAF, RN and USAF, in single-Service, Joint and Combined organisations. During his career, he played rugby, squash, soccer and golf. He is responsible to the Chairman of the RAF Sports Board for the conduct of all sport in the RAF undertaken under the aegis of the RAF Sports Associations and the implementation of RAF Sports Board Directives and promulgation of policy. He is a member of the Combined Services Sports Board, acting as Chairman in rotation, and a Trustee of the RAF Central Fund. Air Cdre Doggett has an interest in a wide variety of sports and keeps himself fit with circuit training, swimming and cycling. He actively pursues golf, surfing, sub-aqua diving, flying and skiing. He is a keen supporter of Liverpool FC.
Deputy Director Sports Board (RAF) - Group Captain Ian Atkinson
The Deputy Director is retired Group Captain Ian Atkinson. Ian controls the finances is the interface on the distribution and control of non-public monies granted to associations for the running of their affairs. Non public funding comes from RAF Central Fund Grants, plus those from the Nuffield Trust, Trenchard Memorial Fund and the RAF Sports Lottery. Ian is also the Promoter of the RAF Sports Lottery. He keeps himself fit, plays golf and swims whenever possible.
DSB1 - C2 Mr Steve Parlor
Steve Parlor, is a retired PEdO and holds the post of DSB1. He deals with Homes for Sport, Elite athletes, PR, Media as well as providing best practice and advice at many Association Executive Committee Meetings, as well as teaches on PEd Trade Trg Courses. He is a keen sportsman, who maintains his fitness through a varied training programme, including judo, tennis, golf and circuit training.
DSB1a - Mr Mick Ignatowski
Mick joined the RAF Sports Board Secretariat in April 2011, having left the RAF after 37 years as a PTI Warrant Officer. He fulfils a dual role on the Secretariat as PA to DSB(RAF) as well as being responsible for all administrative duties including the authorisation of RAF fixtures, meetings and overseas visits. Mick continues to keeps himself fit swimming and weight training, other interests include travel and cookery.
Association Accounts Manager - Mrs Cath Kelly
Cath Kelly joined The RAF Sports Board from her job as a Barclays Bank manager in January 2004. She is responsible for all aspects of financial accounts management, including the running of the bank accounts for the recognised Sports Associations and preparing their annual accounts. General interests include travel, reading and family history. She enjoys keeping herself fit and is keen to give mosts sports a try.
Deputy Association Accounts Manager - Mrs Rachel Cahill
Rachel served in the RAF for 22 years leaving recently. She joined the RAF Sports Board in April 2011, working alongside Cath assisting in the day to day duties of running the accounts for the associations. She is also responsible for the ordering of the RAF Colours Certificates, ties and brooches that can be awarded to our sports representatives. Rachel keeps fit by attending circuit sessions and running round after her 2 sons. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Sports Lottery Manager - Miss Emma Milford
Emma served in the RAF for 8 years and was recently appointed RAF Sports Lottery Manager in Feb 2008. She is responsible for the administration of the Lottery, including the funding of overseas visits, grants to sports associations, units and individuals. A keen skier, snowboarder and mountaineer, other interests include photography, art and shopping!
Sports Lottery Deputy Manager - Val Smith
Val has been associated with the RAF since 1980 and joined the RAF Sports Lottery in June 2011. Her duties include the running of the Sports Lottery weekly draw, maintenance of the membership database, the processing of membership applications and the planning and co-ordination of PR opportunities. Val has enjoyed participating in numerous sports over the years; one of the highlights being able to learn to play golf in the sunny climate of Cyprus at JSGC Episkopi.
Mrs Sam O'Mahony (nee Waters)
Sam joined the RAF Sports Lottery in February 2008, having previously gained experience in activity and health club management. Her duties include the running of the Sports Lottery weekly draw, maintenance of the membership database, the processing of membership applications and the planning and co-ordination of PR opportunities. A former athlete she is extremely keen is maintaining her fitness through various mediums, but has recently enjoyed body surfing off the Cornish coast. She is now on Maternity Leave until Aug 12.
RAF Cricket Groundsman Vine Lane - Mr Doug New
Mr Doug New has been the groundsman at the RAF Cricket ground Vine Lane since October 1988. The ground has developed significantly since his arrival, most recently through a complete refurbishement of the pavilion and car park. The ground is Home to RAF Cricket, but also enjoys hosting The MCC, Middlesex County Cricket Club and the illustrious Adastrians CC.
Web Manager Sports Board (RAF) - Flight Lieutenant Tom Smith
Flight Lieutenant Tom Smith is a current serving Logistics Officer and holds the post of Web Manager RAF Sports Board. As well as keeping the Sports Board website updated, he co-ordinates and acts as a focal point for all websites that represent sport within the Royal Air Force. He is a keen sportsman, enjoying windsurfing, sailing, archery, skiing, mountaineering, diving and circuit training.
Deputy Web Manager Sports Board (RAF) - Sergeant Mark (Taff) Thomas
Sergeant Taff Thomas is currently serving in the RAF as a Flight Operations Manager and holds the post of Deputy Web Manager. As the deputy web manager he helps publish and coordinate selected Sports Board website stories and will help administer the various websites including the imminent transfer of websites onto the RAF Domain. He holds an instructional certificate in kayaking and is a Dive leader for sub-aqua. He is a self acknowledged jack of all trades rather than master of one, trying out most activities including; archery, badminton, parachuting, windsurfing, walking, squash, volleyball and coasteering.
