RAF Waveriders events
The Waveriders try to organise at least one meet a month, but that can vary according to the crowds on the beaches of Cornwall!
Our meets range from beginners weeks down at RAF St Mawgan in Cornwall, to foreign Surfing sports tours. In the last few years we have held very successful sports tours to New Zealand, California, Portugal and Southern France.
To make all the tours and coaching weeks worthwhile, we hold an annual RAF Championships down at RAF St Mawgan in the late summer/early autum. We try to run it as close as we can to an official surf comp in line with the Surfing GB guidelines. This gives all of our athletes the opportunity to compete against other personnel in various events. We have Longboard, Bodyboard, Open, Female Open and Novice competitions. With trophies and a years bragging rights for the winners, all of the four events are keenly contested.
We also compete once a year in the Inter Services competition. This is run in the same way as our competition, and is also keenly contested for the pride of being the best in the British Forces.
The beginners weeks are aimed at complete beginners and are structured accordingly. If you cant make these dates or they are fully booked, there is at least one qualified surf instructor at each of our meets, so you've got no excuse for not getting down and learning to surf!
If you can already surf and want to come along to one of our meets then fill in the aplication form below, stating what meet you are applying for and your current surfing standard.
Surfing is a recognised sport withtin the RAF, and as such all of our meets are classed as a duty, so you dont need to put leave in to come along. Just remember to provisionally book it off with local management before you apply, this saves people dropping out and spaces not being filled.

RAF Champs
The dates for the 2012 RAF Championships have been announced. They will be held between the 10th and 16th of September.
