2011-Inter Station Championships
ROYAL AIR FORCE INTER-STATION SWIMMING, DIVING AND WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS, 17-18 NOV 11
BACKGROUND
1. The RAF Inter-Station Swimming, Water Polo and Diving Championships will take place at RAF Cranwell on 17-18 Nov 11. The Mounsey Trophy will be awarded to the Unit that achieves the highest combined points total in the men’s and ladies’ swimming, diving and water polo competitions within the Championship. The format for the Mounsey Trophy is at Annex A. The championships do not include the RAF Individual Championships that are now part of the RAF Inter-Regional championships in spring annually.

2. The timetable for the championships is included at Annex B.
3. The objectives of the Championships are:
a. To encourage all RAF stations of the United Kingdom to challenge as stations across a full swimming, diving and water polo programme.
b. To determine the RAF Inter-Station Champions on the basis of the combined men’s and ladies team outcomes of the swimming, water polo and diving disciplines.
4. Competition Format. The rules and scoring formats for each discipline are at Annex C (Swimming), Annex D (Water Polo), Annex E (Diving) and Annex F (General).
5. Registration Forms. Registration Forms at Annex G are to be returned to the Accommodation Organiser by Thu 13 Oct 11. It is imperative that units wishing to compete meet this deadline, as late notifications cause significant problems for Championship Organisers and may therefore be denied.
6. Accommodation and Messing. Accommodation at RAF Cranwell will be in the sports block and in BB327. Personnel at stations within 25 miles from RAF Cranwell may be required to travel daily. For planning purposes, the accommodation requirement (Annex G) is required by email to the Accommodation Organiser by Thu 13 Oct 11. A full nominal roll is to be sent to the Accommodation Organiser by Mon 24 Oct 11 using the form at Annex H. Any amendments to the nominal roll are to be notified to the Accommodation Organiser as soon as possible and a copy of the nominal roll is to be brought to the Team Captains’ Meeting on 16 Nov 11. No direct approaches to RAF Cranwell are to be made. Full details of accommodation arrangements will be issued nearer the date of the competition.
7. Team Captains’ Meeting. The Team Captains’ meeting will take place in the common room at the Home for Sport accommodation block to the rear of the swimming pool at 0900hrs on Thu 17 Nov 11. Entry details for each event will be taken at this meeting, along with the nominal rolls. Entry details for the events are at Annex I and should be completed and ready for submission at this meeting, along with the nominal rolls. Entry may not be accepted from units not represented at this meeting.
8. Officials. The Honorary Officials Secretary RAFSA is to appoint all officials for the Championships. The Officials Secretary will be responsible for all documentation for the appointed officials. An estimate of the accommodation requirement (Annex G) is required by email to the Accommodation Organiser by Thu 13 Oct 11 and a full nominal roll is to be emailed to the Accommodation Organiser by Mon 24 Oct 11 using the form at Annex H.
9. Photography. Photography of the Inter-Station Championships will be provided by the Stn Photographic Cell, RAF Cranwell.
10. Post Competition Function. There will be no post competition function and the presentation of all trophies will be on the poolside. Personnel are expected to eat in messes after the event.
11. Trophies. RAFSA Hon Sec is to ensure that the relevant Inter-Station trophies are made available for the Championships.
12. Travel Authority. Travel authority for this event is DSB(RAF)/299000/34/4/345/AF dated 27 Jan 11 and JSP 752, Chap 4, Section 8. Where 2 or more personnel travel from the same unit, MT is to be shared.
13. Entry Fee. The entry fee for the RAF Inter Station Championship is £35 per Station. This will go towards the running costs for the Championships. OICs are to approach their Stn PEdO for funding from the Stn Sports Fund. Cheques are to be made payable to RAFSA and forwarded with their registration form (Annex G).

15. Publicity. OC/SNCO PEd Flts are requested to publicise the RAF Championships by ensuring that an appropriate order is included in Station Routine Orders and/or Station Sports Bulletins as appropriate. The individual competition aspect of the Championships should be stressed to encourage maximum participation, should a unit not be able to field a complete team.
