RAF Syerston is the home of the Royal Air Force 2 Flying Training School and Central Gliding School. It is located a few miles South of Newark on Trent in Nottinghamshire. Once home to Wg Cdr Guy Gibson, before he departed to form 617 (Dambusters) Sqn at RAF Scampton, RAF Syerston itself is now a satellite airfield of RAF College Cranwell, but operationally under the Command of the Air Cadet Organisation, with professional flying training assured by the Director of Flying Training within 22 (Training) Group. RAF Syerston is a busy full time RAF Station, with flying operations undertaken seven days a week and over 38000 movements a year.

Our mission statement is "2 Flying Training School delivers highly-trained Qualified Gliding Instructors, who provide the ACO with character-building flying opportunities that allow Cadets to develop soft life skills and a practical interest in aviation. This activity is bounded within a framework of a Just Culture, safe flying operations, airworthy platforms and fun!"

Our vision is "Promoting Excellence in Gliding Instruction".
