Mission Statement

To Provide training facilities to enable the RAF and other Armed Services to maintain combat capability for expeditionary operations world wide.

RAF Tain is the largest and, at times, the busiest Air Weapons Range in the Defence Training Estates.

Tain Range is the sole, dedicated Air Weapons Range in Scotland and is a vital training facility on which aircraft from RAF bases such as Lossiemouth and Leuchars rely for their weapons training. Modern aircraft simulators play an essential role in aircrew training, yet there is no complete substitute for the need to fly and deliver weapons for real, which is where Tain Range plays an vital part.
