About Triathlon

Triathlon is a multi-sport endurance event consisting of swimming, cycling and running in immediate succession over various distances. Triathletes compete for the fastest overall time; this includes all three disciplines and transition time. Triathlons vary in distances and generally start with a Sprint Distance (750m Swim/20K Bike/5K run), Intermediate Distance, commonly referred to as Olympic (1.5K Swim/40K Bike/10K Run), Long Course or Half Ironman (1.9K Swim/90K Bike/21.1K Run) and finally the fully fledged Ironman (3.8K Swim/180K Bike/42.2K Run). Depending on your personal goals and physical make-up will depend what distance will suit you.

Triathlon is now one of the largest growing sports in the UK, and you will soon see why and join the fun! Unlike many other sports there is no elitism amongst Triathletes, and you will soon find that you will just blend in with the masses. It is a sport that challenges and tests your mental strength to tackle physical adversity head on. As long as you can swim (Any Stroke), ride a bike and run then you have all the credentials to start your journey into the Triathlon world.

Nor do you need to spend £1,000s on kit, there are many excellent deals that we can offer to assist RAF Triathletes get on the road and get involved.
