RAF Triathlon Coaches
Coaching is at the heart of triathlon and vital to the success of all participants at every level from novices participating in their first event, age-group participation through to preparing athletes for the World Championships and Olympic Games. The RAF Triathlon Association therefore has a over 15 British Triathlon Qualified Coaches within the ranks ranging from Level 1 to Level 3 Coaches.
Definition of a Level 1 Coach
Assist more qualified coaches, delivering aspects of coaching sessions, normally under direct supervision.
Definition of a Level 2 Coach
Allows the coach to independently plan, deliver and evaluate a series of progressive triathlon sessions to beginner and intermediate children and adults within a group coaching environment.
Definition of a Level 3 Coach
Coaches will be introduced for the first time in their coaching development to the interdisciplinary nature of sport science and annual planning for coaching on a one to one basis with individual athletes, from novice to age-group level. In addition to the discipline modules, coaches will be introduced to delivering field based testing methods, i.e. non-laboratory tests, as well as developing your decision-making skills in relation to a number of role-play scenarios.
