Teams & Disciplines

The Royal Air Force is represented at volleyball by personnel from various units all around the UK. Retaining the inter-services title over the Army and Royal Navy is the ultimate mission of the RAF teams. Only serving RAF personnel are permitted to take part in the inter-service, crown service and airnorth competitions. In preparation for the inter-service competition, the RAF fields a men’s and women’s team in the English Volleyball Association (EVA) National Volleyball League (NVL). This provides season long training and develops teamwork as well as enhancing camaraderie. The teams are entered in to the NVL as the ‘RAF Harriers’ (Men) and the ‘RAF Hawks’ (women). To be eligible for the Harriers or Hawks, individuals must be serving in any of the armed forces or be a MOD civil servant. For further information on the Harriers or Hawks please use the left-hand menu or to view current representatives, please click on the relevant link below.
