RAF Cosford
RAF Cosford Voluntary Band
The RAF Cosford Band is based at the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering (DCAE) and grew out of the West Midlands Band when six members were posted from RAF Stafford to RAF Cosford in 2001. The DCAE was established at RAF Cosford on 1 April 2004 to provide aeronautical engineering training for the Royal Navy and the Army, as well as the Royal Air Force. The original six volunteer musicians have increased to twenty-two in 2008, and provide the musical support for Royal Air Force and Ministry of Defence establishments in the West Midlands region, stretching from RAF Valley on Anglesey, to HMS Forward in Birmingham. Although barely seven years old the Band has participated in three tours to the Falkland Islands and has performed for both Her Majesty The Queen at the National Arboretum, Alrewas, and The Princess Royal on her visit to DCAE Cosford.
