Teams & Disciplines

COMPETITIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Recognised Disciplines. The RAF Sports Board and RAF WWA recognises the following water-skiing disciplines as official sports as defined in AP 3415 and as such are eligible for funding through the RAF Sports Board.

a. Slalom.

b. Tricks.

c. Jump.

d. Wakeboard.

e. Kneeboard.

f. Barefoot.

Rules. Where possible all contests will be conducted under the rules of British Water-ski.

Eligibility. The Royal Air Force Water-ski & Wakeboarding Championships and other Competitions are open to all units and members affiliated to RAF WWA. In addition, and at the discretion of the Executive Committee, civilian members of British Water-ski may be invited to attend and participate in championships and competitions organised by RAF WWA. However, such civilian competitors shall not be ranked or placed within the overall competition and shall not be awarded championships, awards and prizes set aside for Royal Air Force competitions.

Station Teams. The rules governing eligibility for membership of stations in inter-station competitions are laid down in AP 3415 under the heading of Regulations Governing Sport.

Championships. RAF WWA will hold the RAF Water-ski & Wakeboarding Championships annually. Additionally, the RAF Regions will provide representative teams to compete annually in the aforementioned disciplines at RAF WWA Inter-regional Championships.

Inter-Service and Combined Service Competitions. In addition to the RAF Water-ski Championships, RAF WWA will participate in the Inter-Service Championships and other competitions at the discretion of the Executive Committee. Responsibility for the organisation of Inter-Service competitions will fall to the single service nominated to provide the Chairman for the Combined Service Water-ski & Wakeboarding Association for the year in question. Competitions and championships will be held for the water-skiing disciplines listed above. RAF WWA will encourage RAF participation in the Combined Services Water-ski Team when entering in national and international water-skiing competitions and championships.

Discipline. When teams are selected to represent RAF WWA, the Training & Safety Officer or appointed senior team member will be responsible to the Association Chairman for the administration, appearance, and conduct of the other team members. Conduct prejudicial to the RAF will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.

Inter Club Competitions. The RAF WWA General Committee will select a team or teams to represent the Royal Air Force at inter-club competitions.

National, European and World Amateur Competitions and Championships. Provided that an individual is of the required standard, RAF WWA will support, with whatever means available, entry into national, European and world amateur competitions and championships.

Entry Fees. All RAF WWA sponsored competitions and events will be non-publicly funded and all competitors will be invited to pay a personal contribution to defray expenses.

COLOURS

RAF WWA Colours. RAF WWA Colours will be awarded annually by the Executive Committee to those competitors who have represented the Royal Air Force at Inter-Service, national or international competitions.
