Visiting RAF Wittering
Since the withdrawal from service of the Harrier Force in December 2010, the majority of the supporting aircraft engineering infrastructure has been, or is in the course of being, dismantled. The vacated buildings are now being utilised for logistic-based activities. Consequently, with aircraft no longer based here and the associated engineering facilities dismantled, visits by aviation groups are no longer viable.
Additionally, because of the current high tempo of the Station's ongoing provision of a wide range of logistic support to air operations and exercises worldwide, visits in general have, regrettably, had to be restricted. We will still consider requests for visits from Service groups and organisations (limited to no more than 20 visitors), such as the Royal Air Force Association, local Rotary Clubs and other community-type organisations and groups from within the local area; however, there is no guarantee that a visit will be approved and visits that are approved several months in advance could be cancelled due to changing exigencies of the Service nearer the time.
RAF Wittering does not have the capacity to host individual visits by members of the public.
Requests from local organisations and groups to visit RAF Wittering should be sent to the Officer Commanding at the address below or by e-mail: mailto:wit-mco@mod.uk

Booking In Procedures
All personnel visiting RAF Wittering are to report to the Visitor Reception Area (VRA) where temporary vehicle and personnel passes will be issued. Whilst on the unit, the temporary vehicle pass is to be displayed at all times and any form of temporary pass is to be carried on the person at all times. Personnel expecting visitors and/or deliveries are to contact the VRA and provide details of the person, date, time and address where the visitor / delivery are destined. A point of contact is also to be given. Casual visitors need to be escorted on the Station by an authorized sponsor (service person, MOD civil servant or adult dependent), who should arrange to meet their visitors at the VRA. Failure to inform the VRA of an intended visitor / delivery may result in the person / item being turned away. All visitors are required to produce 2 forms of UK recognized identification when booking in, with at least 1 form of photo-ID (ideally a passport, new style driving licence, etc) with them to ease processing at the VRA. For service visitors Identity cards will be appropriate.
Group Visits
For approved visits, specific events or activities by groups full details of the visit, including a list of all visitors and vehicle details (make, colour and registration number), are to be forwarded, via the sponsor, to the Visitors Reception Area at least 5 working days before the visit.

Visitors should note there may be a requirement to be searched prior to entering the unit. In the event that anyone refuses permission for these searches, then access to the unit will be denied.
