Headquarters No 1 RAF Force Protection Wg
HQ No 1 RAF Force Protection Wing Headquarters is an 11 man-strong organisation established to provide specialist Force Protection (FP) advice to personnel and commanders on deployed operations and to exercise command and control of FP measures for all aspects of RAF deployed operations. It ensures the proper integration of FP issues with air operations and logistics functions in the theatre of operations and provides Nuclear, Biological & Chemical warning and reporting if required, conducts liaison with the Host Nation on FP matters, and coordinates ground intelligence and ground communications.
No 3 Squadron RAF Regiment
No 3 Squadron RAF Regiment recently increased its manning to full field squadron complement, which led to the formation of B Flight at RAF Wittering in Apr 06 to support the Squadron's full range of operations. The remainder of the Sqn relocate from RAF Aldergrove to RAF Wittering, via a 4-month deployment to Iraq, in February and March 2007.
Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit Peterborough (MDHU(P))
RAF Wittering provides full parenting support to personnel of the MDHU Peterborough, which provides deployable medical support to operations worldwide. The Unit is a tri-Service facility comprising approximately 200 uniformed Service personnel including consultants, supporting medical, nursing and allied health professional, and administrative and welfare personnel, integrated in peacetime into the Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Low Flying Operations Squadron
Low Flying Operations Squadron implements low flying policy and manages the UK Low Flying System for the whole of mainland UK, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence Directorate of Air Staff (Lower Airspace). It is also the allocating authority for the RAF’s Air Weapons Ranges on behalf of HQ 1 Group.
