RAFWSAA Website – Chairman’s Welcome

As Chairman of the RAF Winter Sports Alpine Association (RAFWSAA), I am delighted to welcome both visitors and Association members to this site.

The Association provides a wide range of activities including downhill and cross country skiing and snowboarding. All abilities are catered for, from the complete novice to the expert skier or snowboarder.

There are two key annual events held by the Association – the RAF Ski and Snowboard Alpine Championships, which are held at the Austrian resort of Saalbach-Hinterglemm early each year, and the Artificial Ski and Snowboard Championships, held at an indoor snow arena in the autumn. These events are for RAF personnel of all abilities and not only encourage competitiveness but also help improve skill levels. As well as the RAF Championships mentioned above, I am delighted to have seen a number of RAF personnel representing the Service at the Combined Winter Sports Championships – an event at which personnel from all the Armed Services compete.

The RAFWSAA Executive Committee consists of both serving and retired RAF personnel who oversee the running of the Association. Committee members’ details can be found on the contacts page.
