Circus 1
Circus 1 - Flight Lieutenant Andy Bryant
Andy is the Team’s Junior Engineering Officer and he flies with Red 1, Squadron Leader Ben Murphy. This is his first year with the Red Arrows.
Age – 29
Education – Andy attended Ashville College, Harrogate, before studying for a Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University. Andy was a member of Cambridge University Air Squadron, organising events and expeditions.
Career – Joined the Royal Air Force and completed Initial Officer Training in 2003. After Engineer Specialist Training he was posted to Royal Air Force Wittering as Officer Commanding Support Engineering Flight. He was then selected to become a Junior Engineering Officer on the first operational Typhoon squadron, 3 (F) Squadron. Subsequently, he moved to the Helicopter Engines Integrated Project Team, where he was responsible for airworthiness and engineering policy for all Merlin and Apache engines, supporting operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Background – Andy was born in Ely, Cambridgeshire. His interest in the Royal Air Force was inspired by his father, who recently retired as a Warrant Officer. Andy is a keen sportsman and regularly plays rugby and football. He also enjoys skiing, scuba diving and hiking.
