The smallest of the three aircraft engineering trades, the seven-strong weapons team are responsible for the maintenance and control of all explosive components and survival equipment fitted to the Hawk aircraft. This includes a Martin Baker mark 10B ejection system, electrically initiated engine fire suppression system and emergency flying and landing gear systems. Collectively known as ‘Armourers’, their jobs range from replacing emergency oxygen cylinders to aircraft ejection seats.
