RAF Marathon des Sables Team 2009
Welcome to the world of lunatics and masochists and in particular five such lunatics, the RAF MDS Team 2009.
In March 2009, five serving RAF Personnel will be competing in the infamous ‘Marathon des Sables’. They and several hundred fellow ‘athletes’ will have to cross almost 250 kms of the Sahara desert over the course of one week, that’s equivalent to 5 ½ marathons and not only that, they will have to carry their own equipment, food and water, whilst mapping their way across the sand dunes and wadis in 45 degrees of heat.

So why are we doing it?
We are doing to push our bodies and minds to their limits, whilst raising money for our chosen charity, Help for Heroes.
Help for Heroes supports our wounded and provides practical direct support to those servicemen and women wounded in the line of duty in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
