The Team

Display Team 09

Once again 29 Squadron is privileged to provide the Typhoon display for 2010. For the team, it is an opportunity to demonstrate the world beating performance of the Typhoon, to engage with members of the public and raise awareness of Airpower in general, and the RAF’s role in particular as part of the UK’s armed forces. We also hope to inspire some of those we meet to consider a career in the RAF. Any member of the team would be happy to answer any questions you may have on the Typhoon.

Look at the plan form of a Typhoon whilst in a 9G turn and what you see is very similar to the support structure required to get it there. At the front, in the cockpit, is the pilot but as you move back the jet gets wider and ever more complex as does the support network required to operate it effectively. At the show the team consists of a display pilot, the team manager and 7 dedicated engineers but before we get there we rely on the professionalism and expertise of staff in Operations, administration, logistics as well as specialists in aviation medicine, photography, media, transport, catering and much more.
