MASUAS Engagement

Engagements is a similar area to that of Charities, though it extends further than a few dedicated causes. Here, we aim to get involved in the local community, whether that means giving up our time to be volunteers, to provide education on the military or even some gardening!

Over the course of 2014, MASUAS has visited a handful of schools in the Greater Manchester area to promote the role University Air Squadrons play as part of the RAF and, more recently, to commemorate Remembrance Day (main picture). In April, some volunteers travelled to RAF Cosford to help out the nearby National Memorial Arboretum with some landscaping, and over summer, we took part in helping to restore Southport’s Rotten Row.

Our primary volunteering commitment of the year was at a local homeless night shelter, run by the charity Manchester City Mission. A number of students volunteered their time to help out with the staff on the 7PM to 7 AM shift. This project is one we hope to carry forward into 2015.
