Engagements & Events

Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron are proud to be active members in the local community. The engagements calendar kicks off at the start of the academic year with recruitment where we actively seek out new members by promoting the Squadron to students at Fresher's Fairs across Yorkshire (for more information, please see How to Join).

On Remembrance Sunday each year the Squadron joins with veterans and other local uniformed organisations to parade through the centre of Tadcaster and attends a service of remembrance at St Mary’s Church. After the service a march to the war memorial takes place to pay our respects to those who have lost their lives through conflict.

At Christmas we organise a lunch for the senior citizens of Church Fenton village and host a Christmas Party for the children and carers of the Peter Pan Nursery. We are pleased to be able to showcase the Squadron on our Friends and Families Day in summer each year. Explanations of all aspects of Squadron life are presented to the visitors against the backdrop of static and airborne displays of a variety of civilian and military aircraft.

We also partake in more light-hearted engagement opportunities and this year have seen the Squadron abseiling down the Owen building at Sheffield Hallam University, challenging local football team Doncaster Rovers to a match and achieving third place in the Red Bull Flugtag!
