72 (Omagh) Squadron host Irish Defence Forces veterans

22 Oct 2019

72 (Omagh) Squadron recently had the honour of hosting veterans from the Irish Defence Forces at their St Lucia Barracks HQ.

The veterans were members of Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann (ONE), which supports the welfare of  ex-service personnel from the Irish Defence Forces.

The group was led by Mr Ollie O'connor, Chief Executive Officer of ONE, who had travelled from the organisations Head Office in Dublin; he was joined by fellow veterans from the Cavan Branch.

The veterans had a tour of the barracks and talked about the role of their organisation and discussed their military services. They met cadets and even took part on the Flight Simulator training.

Gifts were exchanged at the end of the visit with RAFAC receiving a ONE shield and the veterans receiving an RAF Officers beret and a print of the Victor aircraft.

Flight Lieutenant Graham Dodds, Officer Commanding Omagh RAFAC  arranged the special visit and said:

"It was an honour to welcome the members Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann to St Lucia Barracks.

"They are a vital organisation in supporting veterans across the Republic of Ireland and our guests are a fine example of service and dedication to our cadets."
