Last week, Commandant RAF Air Cadets Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty, attended a Virtual Parade Night with 1092 (Bridgend) Squadron in No 3 Welsh Wing.
She was part of a panel of 5 'Dragons' made up of; Wing Commander Phil Flower (Officer Commanding No 3 Welsh Wing); Wing Commander Helen Gould (Officer Commanding Sussex Wing); Flight Lieutenant Ashley Bird (Media Communications Officer No 1 Welsh Wing); and Mr Gary Neville (Wing Executive Officer No 3 Welsh Wing).
The cadets were tasked with delivering a proposal of where the Royal Air Force Air Cadets could open up a new Squadron.
The cadet delivery was captivating and truly inspiring leading to some very difficult decision making when announcing the winner.
Cadet Warrant Officer Jamie Daniel said “I was pleased to be able to lead this project with the assistance of Civilian Instructor Rick Fisher, it was a Dragons Den with a difference.
"I am incredibly proud to have shared the experience with my fellow Cadets and grateful to the staff of the squadron for their continued commitment to virtual training despite being in lockdown”
In addition to this, the Commandant was pleased to be able to make her first ever virtual promotions to some of the cadets of the squadron. Promoting four cadets to Corporal and promoting one Corporal to Sergeant.
Cadet Corporal Ewan Bodilly
Cadet Corporal Max Jones
Cadet Corporal Scott Jones
Cadet Corporal Seren Lowe
Cadet Sergeant Ashley Green
Cadet Corporal Ewan Bodilly said “I thoroughly enjoyed the dragons den project, our team worked very hard and very well together creating our proposal. It was a challenge to present our ideas for a new squadron, because of all the factors to consider. I was extremely proud and thankful for my promotion to the rank of Corporal by the Commandant Air Cadets. A highlight of my career to date.
Well Done 1092 (Bridgend) Squadron!
