1271 (Bathgate) Squadron will host their seventh annual Burns Supper this evening. Cadets will join members of the Royal British Legion for their annual event.
Last year nearly one hundred guests were entertained by the squadron music ensemble ahead of the supper. Wing Commander (Retired) Ireland excelled as Master of Ceremonies and ensured the evening ran to time. Following his welcome, Selkirk Grace was said by Cadet Fell and the haggis was piped in by Cadet Corporal Horsburgh and Cadet Corporal McMath.
Cadett Stephens recited a wonderful address to the haggis before the scrumptious dinner was served.
Cadets from the 3rd Royal Haggis Battalion entertained the guests and a poem was read to honour Robert Burns.
After the formalities of the evening the ceilidh band also provided a traditional collection of Scottish music which got cadets, staff and guests on their feet.
Squadron Commander, Squadron Leader Greer said:
" Last years event was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without the local community and businesses who have kindly given us donations and raffle prizes."
