The following pages detail the Pay, Allowances and Pension packages available to members of the Royal Air Force.
The Joint Personnel Administration Centre (JPAC) calculates and authorises pay for all RAF personnel based on the information supplied by accounting units and other Service or external organisations, including self-service inputs from individuals. JPAC also effects deductions and authorised recoveries such as tas and Earnings Related National Insurance Contributions (ERNIC) based on the information provided above.

There are 2 Armed Forces Pension Schemes (AFPS). AFPS 75 pension benefits are based on rank and length of Service. All personnel serving before 6 April 2005 will be serving under the AFPS 75 scheme unless they opted to move to the AFPS 05 as part of the Offer to Transfer process that took place between July 2005 and March 2006. AFPS 05 pension benefits are based on length of Service and final salary and personnel who joined after 6 April 2005 will be serving under the AFPS 05 scheme.
There are some fundamental differences between the schemes that cover both retired benefits and dependents benefits.
