For RAF personnel to be properly effective in the demanding environment of worldwide operational deployments, it is essential that their wellbeing and that of their families is properly cared for. The RAF has a well-founded support organisation that provides the necessary community support services for personnel both in the UK and overseas.
However, for that support to be effective individuals must firstly be aware of it, and secondly, call upon it for help whenever the need arises. It is therefore important that you understand the depth and breadth of community support that is available to you and how that support can be accessed whenever your peace of mind, or that of your family, is affected.
This toolkit has been produced to take into account the specific needs of the RAF community; it is your essential guide to the current range of community support services that is available to you and your family. This should not be seen as an exhaustive list but it is aimed at providing help, support and guidance for those left behind as Service personnel deploy.
We aim to provide as much information about the support mechanisms that are available so you can select which ones you wish to use. There is also valuable information about allowances, the effects of deployment on children, legal issues and return and reunion.
