Information about RAF Brize Norton
RAF Brize Norton is the nerve centre of the RAF’s air transport capabilities. The main flying role of the Station is to provide strategic Air Transport operations and to operate squadrons of aircraft that are equipped to carry out Air-to-Air Refuelling anywhere in the world.
Also based at Brize Norton is No 1 Parachute Training School, which includes the RAF Parachute Display Team, the Falcons.
RAF Brize Norton is located in Carterton, in West Oxfordshire. It lies in the Thames Valley and is surrounded by scenic countryside including the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a thriving and rapidly expanding town, with some 15000 residents. New housing, industrial and business areas have recently being developed in the north eastern quadrant.
There are the usual range of social and commercial facilities of a growing town, with many active clubs and organisations operating within the area and a good range of shops to provide for everyday needs.
