Information about RAF High Wycombe
RAF High Wycombe is an administrative support unit spread over three sites in the village of Walters Ash, Buckinghamshire. It houses and provides support for Headquarters Air Command, No 1, No 2, No 22 and No 38 Groups.
The village of Walters Ash is situated within the Chilterns, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the largest town in Buckinghamshire is High Wycombe which is 5 miles south of RAF High Wycombe. The centre of London is forty minutes by train and RAF High Wycombe lies close to the M40. Small country towns like Marlow, Henley-on-Thames, Beaconsfield, Wendover and Princes Risborough are only a short distance away. Close to the M40 Junction 4 you will find a 6 screen cinema, large leisure centre, TGI Fridays, John Lewis and Asda. The centre of High Wycombe has recently undergone a major redevelopment and now has a new shopping centre and leisure facilities, restaurants, apartments, a new library and bus interchange. Wycombe's Causeway Stadium is home to Wycombe Wanderers.
As well as the Families Quarters at RAF High Wycombe we have several other smaller Families Accommodation located at Medmenham, just outside Marlow, White Waltham and Lees Gardens both located just outside Maidenhead. The largest of these is Medmenham, where there is easy access from the estate to walks in the countryside, woodland, or along the Thames Path from the patch. The nearest town is Marlow, a picturesque town with a beautiful park by the riverside. High Wycombe, Henley, Maidenhead and Reading, with the larger stores, cinemas, theatres etc, are all only a short drive away
