The AFBSC is an advisory board, that assists CAS in discharging his command, operational, executive, managerial and legal responsibilities as well as those as the Professional Head of the RAF.

Stephen Barrett

Stephen Barrett is a Non-Executive Director of the Royal Air Force. Appointed by the Chief of the Air Staff, he sits on the Air Force Board, Photo Stephen Barrett -1 Air Force Board Executive, Air Force Capability Group and Air Force Operating and Performance Group. He also chairs the Air Audit Committee, which provides advice on Air Command assurance and governance – and he supports the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff in the RAF100 Executive Committee, which manages the programme for the Royal Air Force’s 2018 Centenary. Stephen has a private sector background, and was previously a corporate lawyer in private practice, an investment banker specialising in capital markets transactions and a consulting firm senior leadership partner. He is an advisor, office holder and board member at a number of UK Government bodies.
