Air Commodore Mark Jeffery OBE MA BSc ARCS RAF

Air Commodore Mark Jeffery joined the Royal Air Force in 1983. Following initial training, he was posted to the Buccaneer Force at RAF Lossiemouth. Subsequent tours included Low Level Navigation Instruction at RAF Finningley and E-3D Sentry Mission Crew at RAF Waddington and a stint in MOD Main Building running Joint Exercise Policy. Awarded the OBE for his work in managing the MOD’s response to the Millennium Bug, he then attended No 4 Advanced Command and Staff Course before going on to command No 8 Squadron. His deployments have included HQCENTCOM in support of Operation VERITAS and HQ ISAF, Kabul, as Chief of Dynamic Targeting. Additionally, he worked in A5 Plans at HQ Air Command in support of Op BROCKDALE (Iraq) and Op ELLAMY (Libya) and at PJHQ as part of the Joint Warfare Staff, teaching all aspects of operational-level campaign planning to national and international audiences. In more recent years he served as Deputy UK Air Component Commander and Officer Commanding 901 Expeditionary Air Wing in the Middle-East, Director JFACHQ and Chief of Staff (Operations) 22 (Training) Group. In September 2016 he was promoted to Air Commodore where he took up his current appointment as Head of the RAF Safety Centre.
