2 RAF Force Protection Wing conduct Exercise VOLFA 19 with members of Commando Parachutistes de l’air 30 (CPA 30) and A JPR Ground Extraction Force (GEF) team from 34 Squadron RAF Regiment based at RAF Leeming and RAF Regiment Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) based at RAF Coningsby.

The Exercise is taking place at Cazaux and Mont de Marson training areas in France over the period 1-27 Nov 19. 

Exercise VOLFA 19 is a combined French and UK Force Protection Joint Personnel Recovery (JPR) exercise.

The exercise aims to develop a shared understanding of coalition nations tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) in JPR and to exercise the Wing Joint Personnel Recovery team in a Joint environment, working successfully with coalition partners to provide effective personnel recovery.

Various phases within the Exercise include:

This phase will start with equipment preparation and briefings. 

Exchange of tactics, techniques and procedures with CPA 30 and Stage 1 Drills on French rotary aircraft. 

Combat Recovery task escalating in a more complex situation.
