RAF Police and RAF Regiment from 6 RAFP Sqn, 3(Tactical) Police Sqn, 603 Sqn RAuxAF and 609 Sqn RAuxAF deployed to Malaysia in support of Ex BERSAMA LIMA 19 (BL19).
BL19 is an annual Five Powers Defence Arrangement (FPDA) Maritime/Air Field Training Exercise (FTX) and Joint Command Post Exercise (CPX) conducted to enhance the operability and mutual co-operation among the FPDA nations. The Ex is sponsored on a rotational basis between the armed forces of Malaysia and the Republic of Singapore and facilitated by HQ Integrated Area Defence System (IADS). The Ex also aims to develop the integration of Air, Maritime and Land forces to promote interoperability whilst exercising FPDA combined and joint doctrines at the tactical and operational levels.

The security guard-force of Ex Bersama Lima 19 - compiled from a near 50/50 mix of Regular and Reservist, with technical trades working alongside RAF Police and RAF Regiment to provide security of aircraft and other assets during a 4-week long exercise in Malaysia. A wide range of experience and service delivering the "one force" concept to what was a hugely successful exercise and a once in a lifetime opportunity to all involved!

Deploying on Ex BL19 was an amazing opportunity as it enabled me to experience a truly unique and beautiful part of the world, with a fusion of culture and epic natural wonders on the doorstep. As part of the Aircraft Guard, we ensured that the Typhoons were continually monitored in order to protect these important assets so that II (AC) Sqn could provide effective air power in support of the Five Powers Defence Force. I have thoroughly enjoyed the deployment as protecting RAF personnel and its assets are why I joined as a RAF Regiment Gunner.
