The month of June 2020 saw members of RAF Special Investigation Branch and RAF Halton Police Flight complete an individual 3000 press up challenge to raise awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The team made up of Lee Elliott, Steve & Jane King, Mick Parkinson, Kris Gaertner, Ian lapping, Bailey José (Murray Pickering), Gäreth Williåms, Charlotte Jordan, Dan Algate, John Warren, Rhian James, Kirsty Lewis-Winrow, Dan Vincent, Ryan Uren, Wendy Jacobs, Fraser Davies and Casey Ravenbane surpassed their goal and finally achieved 80,699 press ups. A truly remarkable achievement.
Organiser Sgt Gaz Williams said:
It was a fantastic team effort with personnel across the RAF SIB organisation from both Serious Crime Flights and HQ (including personnel deployed to South Atlantic and the Middle East), and GPD from RAF Halton contributing to an impressive number which was further complicated by lockdown and the necessity to communicate virtually. The £2447 raised by the team helped contribute to the £150, 048 raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust and we would all like to thank the friends and family who played such a big part in achieving this total.
After presentations for the top three (Cpl John Warren – 9400, Sgt Gaz Williams - 9000, and Mrs Wendy Jacobs – an immense 8155) Halton team members joined virtually by Cranwell participants enjoyed a well-deserved socially distanced piece of cake made by their very own star baker Wendy (who has been known to bake for royalty)!
