Flying Officer Joshua Durdant-Hollamby

Role

My career highlight so far

Being a pilot awaiting training has its challenges, but it also affords some incredible opportunities! I would have to say, aside from learning to Nordic ski, being in London on the 10th July for the 100th anniversary flypast is a moment I will never forget and is definitely a career highlight. Equally, taking part in the Great Escape 75th anniversary parade in Poland was another moment that will stay with me forever.

The best thing about my current role

Being a trainee pilot is a privilege, it is a dream job. It's not without pressure, intensity or difficulty, but I often remind myself just how fortunate I am.  I have done loads of stuff in my current role I never thought I'd do. Most recently, I filmed a documentary following five RAF officers who cycled back to the UK from Zagan in Poland, the location of the Great Escape, for the 75th anniversary. I am however, extremely excited to be moving onto the first phase of my flying training.
