Flying Officer Nick Horner-Boyd

Role

My career highlight so far

There are so many to choose from. Leaving school with no GCSE’s and being given the opportunity to study in my own time has put me in the position where I am now - finalising my BSc with onwards development towards MSc and potentially beyond. I graduated from Initial Officer Training, RAFC Cranwell, in July this year as part of the Queen's Colour. Reaching Sgt level in my old job, and now a Junior Officer, shows that anyone can achieve what they put their mind to!

Working alongside the RAF as part of the RAF Storyteller programme has allowed me to show people who want to join that it's actually pretty decent! I use Instagram a lot and regularly interact with questions, or takeover the official RAF Instagram page!

The best thing about my current role

There are so many to choose from. Being able to lead and manage numerous people on a daily basis, providing logistics support to people in theatre of operations, bonding with people on adventure training in Austria where I was being paid to snowboard. I can’t choose one single point, but I don’t regret any of my movements.
