  • Based at RAF Honington and is responsible for counter Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) training and response.
  • Formed at RAF Yatesbury in 1951.
  • Is in the process of transferring CBRN responsibilities to the British Army.
  • Trained to provide capabilities 24 hrs a day across the full spectrum of possible operational theatres.


1951 - Formed at RAF Yatesbury as a light anti-aircraft unit with Bofors guns and was deployed to Egypt.

1975 - Redeployed to RAF North Luffenham to convert to the Rapier missile system.

1999 - Joined with the1st Battalion Royal Tank Regiment to become part of the CBRN Regiment.

2012 - Joined with 26 Squadron to become 20 CBRN Wing RAF
