Prefect - Air Experience Flights

On 18th October 2022, 57 Squadron based at RAF Cranwell hosted two Air Traffic Controllers from RAF Benson for an air experience flight in a Prefect at RAF Barkston Heath. Both personnel are currently awaiting their Phase 2 training - the Joint Air Traffic Control Course, at RAF Shawbury.

Following her flight with Officer Commanding 57 Squadron, Wing Commander Norris, Flying Officer Filipiak said:

Being sat in the cockpit having everything explained whilst listening in on pilot and ATC interactions was eye-opening and will of immense benefit moving forward with my training.  Communication between pilots and controllers is vital so it’s important both parties understand and experience stepping in one another’s shoes.  Flying Officer Filipiak
