RAF Winterbourne Gunner does not have a HIVE facility


RAF Winterbourne Gunner has no childcare facilities on the Station, RAF families should use childcare outside of the Station.

Health and welfare

Medical centre

There is no Medical Centre on the Station.

Service personnel are to use the medical facilities located at Bulford Camp.  Dependants of personnel should register with a local GP.

Dental centre

There are no dental facilities on the Station.

Dependants should register with local practices in the Salisbury area.


If you are the spouse or partner of RAF personnel, SSAFA volunteers can give you advice and help on issues including bereavement, finances, housing, relationships and mental health.

There is no SSAFA on the station, it is supplied by MOD Boscombe Down as part of unit support.

Station gym

The Station gym has modern equipment.

The gym located in building 29a.  

The gym is free to all MOD employees who either work or live at RAF Winterbourne Gunner. This membership is extended to accompanying spouses living in Service Families Accommodation.

Those wishing to use the facility are required to attend an induction period before they become authorised to do so.

Sports pitches and courts

The Station has one tennis court, one squash court and one football pitch.

The Community Centre hosts film nights, tea afternoons and is available for parties and other events.

Bars and cafés

The Colour Cafe

The Colours Cafe is available to permanent staff and students and is located in Thorneydown House. 

Opening times: Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4:30pm, and Friday 8am to 1pm.

Children and young people

The Community Centre is available for clubs, parties etc, which can be booked through the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM).
