Battle of Britain Annual Reception

On the 5th September 2018, the Station Commander, Wing Commander David Hooton hosted the Battle of Britain Annual Reception at RAF Woodvale and welcomed honoured guests from the North-West and local community to the unit.  The reception was to honour those who fought and fell in the Battle of Britain and to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force.

After an address from the Station Commander the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside presented certificates and badges to this year’s Lord Lieutenant's Cadets from the Air Training Corp, Cadet Warrant Officer J Frances and Cadet Flight Sergeant D Turner.

We were honoured to have Mr Peter “Percy” Proctor, a Veteran WW2 Fighter pilot attend and during the evening he chatted about his exploits and service career in the RAF.

The evening was concluded with a Sunset Ceremony performed by the Cadets of 611 Squadron, Air Training Corps based at RAF Woodvale, looked on by their Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Peter Tipping.
