Baton Relay

1st Apr - 10th Jul

Starting at the Royal Courts of Justice and lasting 100 days, the relay will feature people from across the RAF, the communities we serve and past members. The baton, which features the RAF crest and RAF100 logo, has been designed by young RAF recruits using materials that symbolise aircraft construction through the ages.

Baton Relay - National Memorial Arboretum

11th JUN

12:00-13:00

RAF elite level triathlete Flt Lt Lucy Nell will be joined by veterans and cadets to complete a relay around the National Memorial. This is a symbolic handover commemorating our past, celebrating the achievements of people involved in our present and inspiring the future of the RAF. Upon completion there will be a short poignant service to bless the baton that will conclude with a flypast by a RAF air transport aircraft.

Baton Relay - International Bomber Command

16th Jun

1300 - 1430

Join us for a parade of over 100 people commemorating our past, representing our present and the future of the RAF. RAF Waddington Pipes and Drums will parade with 100 cadets from Trent Wing. The parade will carry the baton and handover to a group of veterans who will ceremoniously walk it to the Spire. Lincolnshire Military Wives Choir will entertain us and children from local schools we have visited will be there too and will lay handmade wreaths.The RAF Digby Padre will lead us in an act of remembrance, the band will play the last post, sound reveille and we'll all look skyward at 13:50 for the lone BBMF Lancaster flypast.

Baton Relay - Lincoln Cathederal

17th Jun

1100 - 1230

Having rested atop the RAF memorial overnight, the baton will receive a blessing in the Cathedral. This will last around 20 mins, including the Airman's Hymn. The service will form part of the existing Mattins and is open to all.

Baton Relay - Lincolnshire Show Ground

20th Jun

All day

The baton will be parachuted into the show at 13:15 by the RAF Falcons display team whereupon it will tour the main area before spending the rest of the day on display in the Aviation Village.

Come down to the RAF Museum at Cosford on 5th May to see the latest stage of the RAF100 Baton Relay. Here you can also learn about the history of the Royal Air Force.

Come down to the Airworld Museum on 7th May to see the latest stage of the RAF100 Baton Relay. Here you can also visit the former RAF base and explore more about the history of the force in the area.

Baton Relay - Bletchley Park

Come down and see the RAF100 Baton Relay as it reaches one of the most well-known sites that was decisive in winning the Second World War. The home of The Codebreakers, learn more about the role this site played in helping the Royal Air Force and wider forces win the war.

Baton Relay - Folkestone

Come and join the RAF100 Baton Relay when it reaches Kent. There will be a fun for all the family and you can even see the world famous Red Arrows and sit in Red 10 for selfies! All are invited.
