About us

RAF High Wycombe is an administrative support unit located in the village of Naphill, approximately 3 miles from the town of High Wycombe. It houses and provides support for Headquarters Air Command , Headquarters No 1, No 2, No 22 and No 38 Group as well as the European Air Group.

Those of us working at RAF High Wycombe are committed to providing a quality support service. We are, however, continually striving to improve the level of support we are able to provide. I, therefore, welcome comments on how we might serve you, any personnel under your command and your families better.

Apart from sustaining, and at every appropriate opportunity improving upon, the service we provide to the units we parent, my principal aims during my time as Station Commander are to:

  • Invest in the leadership, professional and personal development of personnel serving here, whether uniformed, civilian or contractor.
  • Build on the bonds between the local civic and RAF communities so that we continue to contribute positively to both the local community and the surrounding environment.

RAF High Wycombe has always had a close affiliation with High Wycombe and continues to support the town, and its surrounding villages, at every opportunity. On 9 February 1971, the Station was awarded the Freedom of the Borough of High Wycombe and, every 4 years, we take the opportunity to mark the occasion by marching through the streets of High Wycombe with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, bands playing and colours flying. The Station Commander is a Freeman of High Wycombe and plays a full and active role in civic duties. The Unit also takes part in the Battle of Britain and Remembrance Sunday Parades held in the town of High Wycombe every year and in numerous smaller ceremonies held in the neighbouring towns and villages.

RAF High Wycombe is alert to green issues and the protection and the enhancement of the environment is a responsibility that we take very seriously. Maintenance of our estate is an essential part of operational effectiveness and has a direct effect on our personnel. Compliance with Government environmental policy is foremost in our planning and a dedicated environmental protection officer is appointed to ensure that all statutory requirements are met.

Finally, as a major employer in the local area, the RAF is proud of its affiliation with High Wycombe and the local area.
