Additional Funding Options

In addition to the Service funding available through the Enhanced Learning Credits scheme, there are several additional funding routes available to Service personnel through Government supported programmes. Details are available from http://www.gov.uk/ or by clicking on the links below.

Professional and Career Development Loans - Professional and Career Development Loans are bank loans to pay for courses and training that help with your career or help get you into work. You may be able to borrow between £300 and £10,000. Loans are usually offered at a reduced interest rate and the government pays interest while you’re studying.

24+ Advanced Learning Loans -You can apply for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to help with the costs of a college or training course if you’re 24 or older. The course must have started on or after 1 August 2013 and be eligible- i.e. a Level 3 or 4 course (e.g. A Levels). Loans have to be paid back. Repayments don’t start until April 2016 and you won’t have to pay anything back until you earn more than £21,000 a year.

Student Finance - The main student finance package includes a Tuition Fee Loan, Maintenance Loan (full time students only) and Maintenance Grant or Special support Grant (full time students only). You apply for student finance every year. You don’t need a confirmed place at university or college to apply.
