Babcock

One Team, One Mission: To provide Total Support to No 1 Flying Training School at RAF Linton-on-Ouse.

The role of Babcock at RAF Linton-on-Ouse is to provide sufficient airworthy Tucano aircraft to meet the Basic Fast Jet Training task of No 1 Flying Training School and to supply full engineering and logistics support to the Station. We, and the Training Aircraft Integrated Project Team which is also located at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, have a partnering agreement to devise and implement the most cost effective methods of providing all aspects of Tucano support. Babcock is proud to be part of the excellent working relationship with the Royal Air Force and of our part in providing successful flying training at RAF Linton-on-Ouse.

Richard Twinn is the TISC Contract Manager and Nigel Higgins the Multi-Activity Station Support Contract Manager for Babcock at RAF Linton-on-Ouse. Richard Twinn is the Senior Babcock person at Linton-on-Ouse and with Nigel Higgins oversees operations in 3 main departments:

- Line (Forward) Engineering Operations

- Base (Depth) Line engineering

- Station Support.

Line Engineering Operations

Lead by Don Petty, Line (Forward) Engineering Operations provides direct engineering support to the day-to-day flying activity on the Station of up to 43 flights per day. The department comprises Aircraft Engineering Operations Rectification which undertakes all of the corrective maintenance on the aircraft and the Flight Line which carries out all of the support necessary to keep the aircraft operating on the busy flight line. Line Engineering also encompasses Survival Equipment and the Armourer’s department, who maintains and support ejection seats, canopies and small arms.

Base (Depth) Line Engineering

Base (Depth) Engineering is led by Eddi Eddleston and is focused on the Scheduled Maintenance for Tucano, which involves in-depth strip and servicing of the aircraft’s structure, engine, electrical and radio systems. Base Engineering also encompasses Ground Equipment Flight, which includes the paint facility who undertake the aircraft repaints. Second Line Engineering Finally Engineering Co-ordination and Planning are embedded in base engineering which ensures documentation and maintenance planning in correctly controlled. Station Support Services

Procurement and supply, motor transport, photography, Station Warrant Officers Working Party and domestic cleaning services are provided by the Station Support Services Contract under the management of Nigel Higgins. Nigel is also the Station Waste Manager responsible to the Station Commander for delivering a robust waste management strategy in partnership with OCS and OCS Wasteline Services.

Human Resources

Our Human Resources department, led by Alan Lynn delivers comprehensive administrative and personnel support for our staff, including recruitment.
