Shawbury (C/L,Heli,Ind,Jet,RCP, RCS)

The RAF Shawbury Model Flying Club is affiliated to the Royal Air Force Model Aircraft Association (RAFMAA) and the British Model Flying Association (BMFA). Membership of RAFMAA and BMFA are pre-requisites for membership and whilst there is no limit to the number of military members civilian membership is limited to 35.

Members are authorized to fly on the airfield from the taxiways adjacent to Runway 05 Threshold as shown on the location map.  An Airfield Driving Permit is required to cross the runway to the flying areas. Flying is only permitted when the airfield is closed for full-size flying operation and full details of flying times and regulations can be found on the Flying Times and Rules and Regulations pages.

We welcome all standards of pilots in any discipline and newcomers are particularly welcome. Free flight duration models and powered models without a throttle or motor control are not permitted.

Club fees are set at the AGM and run from 1 January to 31 December. Fees for 2017 are £30 per annum or £50 for the 1st years' membership; there is no charge for military members. Annual BMFA senior membership is currently £33, RAFMAA full or associate membership for serving or ex-military personnel is £17 and RAFMAA affiliate membership is £18. BMFA membership provides the compulsory 3rd party insurance required to fly from MoD land. Further details can be obtained from the Secretary.
