The Queen’s Birthday Celebrations in Algeria

A woodwind quintet from the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment has recently returned from Algeria, where they had been providing musical support for this year’s Queen’s Birthday Celebrations. The British Ambassador’s Residence hosted events attended by representatives from each of the Embassies in Algeria’s capital, Algiers. The woodwind ensemble was there to provide background music and also perform the United Kingdom and Algerian national anthems. In addition to the quintet, Sergeant Stephen Jones, a piper from the RAF Voluntary Pipes and Drums, also entertained the guests.

Ensemble Leader Sergeant Jeannette Scott:

“This was the first international trip this particular ensemble has participated in; the group have great camaraderie and enjoy playing both fun and challenging repertoire. It was fantastic to support such a prestigious event.”
