RAF Halton Pipes and Drums

RAF Halton Crest Welcome to Royal Air Force Halton Pipes and Drums

The birthplace of piping in the Royal Air Force the band's home is at RAF Halton near Wendover, set in the heart of the Chilterns.

From its earliest days as a RAF apprentices' band we have gone from strength to strength and now enjoy our status as one of the finest pipe bands within the armed services. Held in high regard across the piping community, RAF Halton Pipes and Drums are in great demand for performances both at home and overseas.

The band wears the RAF Tartan, the colours of which can be interpreted in many ways: the blues reflect the changing mood of the skies that we protect, the white stripe for the clouds and the blood-red stripe in honour of the fallen.

Our members are recruited from all ranks of serving personnel, civil servants and civilians from the surrounding area. We are able to do this as we are a Station Band which has Voluntary status. If you are currently a piper or drummer with a passion for your playing, learning and improvement, then please contact the Pipe Major at the Halton band rooms. Expert tuition is available. All are welcome, just contact us for an initial assessment.
