Flying Info

Low Flying Area (LFA) 9 is a dedicated area for RAF Shawbury flying training operations. Intensive rotary flying training takes place throughout the area using fields and concealed clearings. Due to the flexible nature of flying training and the generic booking procedures of Shawbury based aircraft, not all individual times and positions of aircraft are known therefore, during normal working hours and at promulgated night flying times, rotary aircraft can expect to be encountered throughout the whole low flying area. The area roughly encompasses the county of Shropshire and parts of neighbouring counties extending from Wrexham in the north, to Bridgnorth in the south, to Stafford in the east and the Tanat Valley in the west.
