Santa Arrives by Helicopter – His Reindeer are Resting Until Christmas Eve

School

THE children at St Mary’s CE Primary School in Shawbury Village had a big surprise earlier today when Santa dropped in to see them by helicopter.

The RAF Shawbury Squirrel helicopter, flown by Flight Lieutenant Shipley of the Central Helicopter Flying School, was on a scheduled training flight and shortly before landing at RAF Shawbury it was able to set Father Christmas down on the school playing fields. Father Christmas then took part in the St Mary’s CE School Christmas Fair.

Station Commander Group Captain Jason Appleton said: “Due to constraints on the flying training programme we have not been able to support as many local schools as we would like. This particular helicopter was returning to the unit following a training sortie and we were glad we were able to support our local village school which caters for many service families based at RAF Shawbury”.
