In this section you can find useful information about our Station, Squadrons, People and Role.

RAF Valley is a Royal Air Force station on the island of Anglesey, Wales. We provide advanced pilot training using BAE Hawk T2 aircraft.

No. 4 Flying Training School takes RAF and Royal Navy pilots from 1FTS at RAF Linton-on-Ouse and trains them to fly fast jets, prior to training on an Operational Conversion Unit.

RAF Valley is also home to two Search and Rescue lodger units. 202(R) Sqn trains military rotary crews in SAR and mountain and maritime skills. The RAF Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) has it's headquaters at RAF Valley, as well as a team, providing first response to military and some civilian aircraft incidents and emergencies.

RAF Valley has been at the forefront of the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS). Ascent Flight Training – a joint venture between Lockhead Martin and Babcock – delivers Advanced Fast Jet Training with BAE Systems Hawk TMk2, with IV(R) Sqn RAF.

RAF Mona, also on Anglesey, acts as a relief landing ground.

After the Welsh Assembly Government in Cardiff gave permission to have commercial flights from Valley, two daily flights take place between Valley and Cardiff International Airport. This forms part of an initiative to boost the economy of North West Wales. The project received £800,000 from the government yin Cardiff towards building the civilian enclave on the RAF Valley site.
